How We Work
Mosaic Counseling Associates is a group practice of independent therapists. Our clinical staff is dedicated to continued professional growth through education, supervision, and accountability. We are committed to the highest ethical standards of our profession. Our mission includes providing high quality counseling and psychological education to clients at affordable rates. We strive to create a safe, honest and accepting environment for our clients that will facilitate their personal and emotional growth. We believe in the rights of clients to be informed consumers of mental health services and therefore openly provide information to them about our various education, licensures, theoretical orientations, and methods of counseling.
Couples Counseling
When a marriage comes under stress, it can be all too easy to seek a divorce. Many couples have found relief, personal growth and a renewed commitment to each other in counseling. Even those whose marriages end come out of counseling better equipped to move on and build solid relationships in the future.
Family Counseling
As familes face increasingly complex challenges in today's world, parents and children alike may find it difficult to make healthy decisions or contribute to a loving home. Our licensed therapists can provide your family with a safe place to openly communicate about your feelings and needs with a view to building a stronger, healthier family.
Premarital Counseling
While pop songs urge us to believe that love is blind, we believe that marriage is best entered with eyes wide open. Our program provides an opportunity for couples entering marriage to explore the results of the FOCCUS inventory (Facilitating Open Couple Communication, Understanding and Study), while working with a professional counselor regarding areas of need, communication, problem solving, spirituality and family of origin issues.
Group Therapy
Group therapy provides an excellent opportunity for you to try methods of understanding yourself that are different from one-on-one therapy. Some of these groups -- such as groups for women survivors of sexual abuse or for grief recovery -- are issue oriented; others are general psychotherapy groups. These groups, which last from 12 weeks to a year, act like a microcosm, a place where you can explore yourself in relation to other people and enter the outside world better equipped to face its challenges and opportunities.
Play Therapy for Children
Divorce, physical or mental abuse and other trauma inside and outside the home can be overwhelming for a young child. In children's therapy, games, play therapy and other age-appropriate activities are used to help even very young people develop tools they need to better cope with life's difficulties.
Addictions
Alcohol, drugs, gambling and sex are just a few of the ways in which one can become ensnared in addiction. Freedom from addiction lies in understanding its root causes and reclaiming those parts of our selves from which we have become split off.
Anger Management
In one-on-one and group settings, we explore the place of anger in our lives, the anger cycle, assertive expression of anger, channeling anger appropriately and strategies for changing behavior.
Eating Disorders
Anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating are not necessarily weight loss, obesity or dieting issues. More likely, they stem from deeper motivations, which, if addressed, can lead to a healthier relationship with food and relief from self-destructive behaviors.
Grief and Loss
When someone you love dies, a marriage ends, or you lose your job, the grief can be overwhelming. Sometimes the answers that ministers or other advisors give may not be enough. Professional grief and loss counseling can help.
